Lucy is from a family rich in the arts, performance, and music.
Her forefathers crafted handmade furniture in London for 3 generations, and her Scandinavian foremothers were once tailors to the King and Queen of Denmark. Grandmother, Maude Scafté was a grand pianist and remembered in the family for bringing musical life to many a celebration.
As a child, Lucy learnt piano, guitar, and recorder, but her true passion was singing, dancing, and writing songs. Many weekends were spent creating plays and shows with her sister and cousin, who since founded Theatre4Kids in Surrey. From 1988-1990 Lucy was part of the entertainment team dancing on the pitch at Wembley Stadium for the Football League Cup and American Bowl Finals. She’s sung on BBC Radio’s ‘Singing Together’ show and performed 2nd Soprano in Coloma Choir for 5 years consecutively at The Fairfield Halls, Croydon.
Her love for electronic music was birthed in the 1980s as Breakdance, Hip-hop and House burst on to the radio. As a student in the 90s, Lucy studied Marketing and took modules in Entertainment Promotion and Radio Production. She survived financially taking bar work in London’s legendary Astoria venue and nightclub. There she mixed with many musicians and DJs which inspired her to launch her own DJ path.
First known as ‘DJ Destiny’, she found her niche playing Ambient and Progressive House. She has been featured among the pages of Generator Magazine with the likes of Roger Sanchez, Carl Cox and Mickey Finn to name a few. Joining a female DJ cooperative in 1995, she played the underground scene, dabbled in pirate radio stations, and regularly appeared at London-based music festivals and clubs.
She paused her DJ career in 1997 to work as a Corporate Fundraiser for the Tate Gallery and then answer her ‘call’ to become a Nurse. During her final year as a Student Nurse, Lucy wrote an essay describing the healing effects of music on health. Little did she know 20 years later she would start to blend her callings…Now known as ‘Lucy Angel’, she loves to play Old Skool House on vinyl and mix Progressive House and Ibiza Chill on digital decks.
